Volunteer with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TMMSN). There are many aspects of the TMMSN that volunteers become involved with including education, live animal rescue and rehabilitation, sampling and necropsies, research, and more. We love working alongside our volunteers!
Volunteers are reminded that we are not here to promote or engage in experiences such as swimming or communicating with the dolphins. With your continued commitment of time you will gain valuable experience that may enhance your studies, career, or personal life, however, the goal of our program is to contribute to the growing body of scientific knowledge and further the conservation of marine mammals.
How do you become A Volunteer?
To volunteer with TMMSN, you must be at least 18 years of age and submit an application (button below). Your application will be reviewed and, if you meet the current needs of the organization, you will be notified of our next training session in your area. Training consists of lectures on various aspects of the TMMSN and a series of physical tests both in and out of the water.
Please note: We typically host 1-2 training sessions each year. We will hold applications on file and notify applicants via email when a training session is available. Thank you for your interest and patience, we hope to have the opportunity to work with you soon.
