For seven years, our dolphin rescue transport van has been more than just a vehicle. It’s been a lifesaver — carrying sick, injured, and stranded dolphins to safety all along the Texas coast. When in transport to rehabilitation or release, dolphins continued to receive vital care. It kept our volunteers safe, reduced stress on the dolphins, and gave every rescue its best chance at success.
But years of constant use in a harsh saltwater environment eventually caught up with it. Despite our best efforts to maintain it, rust and corrosion took over, and we were forced to retire the van which was no longer safe for our team or the dolphins during rescue efforts.
Without a reliable transport van, our ability to respond to live stranded dolphins and provide them care as quickly as possible is at risk.
